ജനാധിപത്യവും പിരിയോഡിക് ടേബിളും പത്താം ക്ലാസ് പാഠപുസ്തകത്തിൽ നിന്നും മാറ്റി എൻ സി ഇ ആർ ടി വീണ്ടും വിവാദത്തിൽ. ഗാന്ധിവധം, മുഗള്‍ ചരിത്രം, ഗുജറാത്ത് കലാപം, ഡാര്വിന്റെ പരിണാമസിദ്ധാന്തം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് പിന്നാലെയാണ് പിരിയോഡിക് ടേബിള്‍, ജനാധിപത്യം, ഊര്‍ജസ്രോതസ്സുകള്‍ എന്നിവയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പാഠഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ കൂടി ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നത്. മുഴുവൻ ഭാഗങ്ങളും ഒഴിവാക്കിയാണ് വിശ്വാസവൽക്കരണം.
വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളുടെ പഠനഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെയാണ് പരിഷ്‌കരണമെന്നാണ് എന്‍.സി.ഇ.ആര്‍.ടി വാദം. ഇതൊക്കെ അപ്രധാനം എന്ന നിലപാടാണ് വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രിയും ആവർത്തിച്ചത്.
കോവിഡ് കാരണം കുട്ടികളുടെ പഠനഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കാനാണ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സഹമന്ത്രി സുഭാഷ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. പഠിക്കാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ ഡാര്‍വിന്‍ സിദ്ധാന്തം വെബ്‌സൈറ്റുകളില്‍ ലഭ്യമാണ്. കൂടാതെ ഈ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ക്ലാസിൽ പഠിക്കാനുണ്ടെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
ശാസ്ത്രവിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ ഡാര്വിന്റെ ജീവപരിണാമസിദ്ധാന്തമടക്കമുള്ള പാഠഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ ഒഴിവാക്കിയതിനെതിരേയുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധം ശക്തമായി നിലനില്‍ക്കേയാണ് പിരിയോഡിക് ടേബിളും ഊര്‍ജസ്രോതസുമടക്കമുള്ള സുപ്രധാന വിഷയങ്ങള്‍ ഒഴിവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പരിസ്ഥിതി സുസ്ഥിരത (environmental sustainability) സംബന്ധിച്ച പാഠഭാഗവും പത്താം ക്ലാസിലെ പാഠപുസ്തകത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് നീക്കംചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതുകൂടാതെ പത്താം ക്ലാസ് പാഠപുസ്തകത്തിലെ ജനാധിപത്യത്തെ കുറിച്ച് പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്ന മുഴുവന്‍ പാഠഭാഗവും നീക്കി. ജനാധിപത്യം, ജനാധിപത്യത്തിനും രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാര്‍ട്ടികള്‍ക്കുമുള്ള വെല്ലുവിളികള്‍ എന്നിവയാണ് നീക്കംചെയ്തത്.
കോവിഡ് കാലത്ത് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളുടെ പഠനഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കുക, ഓവര്‍ലാപ്പിങ് ഒഴിവാക്കുക, അപ്രസക്തമായതും പ്രയാസമേറിയതുമായ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ ഒഴിവാക്കുക എന്നീ കാരണങ്ങളാണ് പാഠഭാഗങ്ങള്‍ പിന്‍വലിക്കുന്നതിനായി എന്‍.സി.ഇ.ആര്‍.ടി നിരത്തിയ വാദങ്ങള്‍. പരിണാമസിദ്ധാന്തം ഒഴിവാക്കിയതിനെതിരേ 1800-ഓളം വിദഗ്ധര്‍ സര്‍ക്കാരിന് തുറന്നകത്തെഴുതി പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇവരുന്നയിച്ച വിമര്‍ശനങ്ങള്‍ കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
