സാഹിത്യത്തിനുള്ള നൊബേല്‍ സമ്മാനം നോര്‍വീജിയന്‍ എഴുത്തുകാരന്‍ യോണ്‍ ഫൊസ്സേ(John Fosse) യ്ക്ക്. നാടകകൃത്ത്, തിരക്കഥാകൃത്ത് എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ വിഖ്യാതനാണ്. സമകാലിക നോര്‍വീജിയന്‍ സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ അതികായനായ യോൺ നിശബ്ദരാക്കപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ ശബ്ദമായ എഴുത്തുകാരനാണെന്ന് നോര്‍വീജിയന്‍ അക്കാദമി പറഞ്ഞു.
നോവല്‍, ചെറുകഥ, കവിത, നാടകം, ലേഖനം, ബാലസാഹിത്യം, സിനിമ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിറഞ്ഞുനില്‍ക്കുന്നതാണ് ഫൊസേയുടെ ലോകം. 1989 മുതൽ എഴുതുന്നു. മുപ്പത് പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ നാല്‍പ്പതിലേറെ ഭാഷകളിലേക്ക് മൊഴി മാറ്റപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. നാല്പത് വർഷമായി എഴുത്തിൻ്റെ ലോകത്ത് സജീവമാണ്. കവിതയിലായിരുന്നു തുടക്കം.
1959-ല്‍ നോര്‍വേയുടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ തീരത്താണ് അദ്ദേഹം ജനിച്ചത്. 1983-ല്‍ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ചുവപ്പ്, കറുപ്പ് (Red, Black) എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിലൂടെയാണ് നോവൽ സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ ചുവട് വെക്കുന്നത്. സെപ്‌റ്റോളജി (Septology) എന്ന പേരില്‍ പുറത്തുവന്ന നോവല്‍ ത്രയം ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി. Scenes From Childhood എന്ന കഥാസമാഹാരവും Melancholy എന്ന നോവലും ഫൊസ്സേ സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ നാഴികക്കല്ലുകളായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.

- He was born on 29 September, 1959, in Norway’s Haugesund.
- Fosse has written some 40 plays as well as novels, short stories, children’s books, poetry and essays.
- He debuted with the novel Raudt, svart 1983, which touched on the theme of suicide and set the tone for his later work.
